My opinion :

indirectly and directly yes
Directly His statements yesterday about changing the constitution( and other crazy actions/comment) scares investors including me with my few pennies.

but the bigger systemic problems are now coming to bite us in the face not even the ass. And sadly he is chief in charge of the Country and his lack of direction on investor friendly policies are now affecting us.

But oh boy will we be hit by massive petrol increases next month. And the knock on food inflation in 90 days.

Think its time to start panicking.

Just back from theNetherlands and Belgium, and yes, that was scary. At this stage not affordable for South Africans I think. If a coffee cost you R 45.... As said scary. I started visiting South Africa 10 years ago, and at that stage the Euro / Rand was 1 / 7. However in that 10 years the Rand went to 14 and came back to 8, before going back to almost 15 (where we are right now). I wouldn't be surprised if the Rand goes back again to 8 - 9...... I am not going to panic....

Nickname, the macroeconomics have changed. The rand strengthened due to US fiscal policy after the #2008 crisis. Excess liquidity and low interest rates and shrinking growth sent fund managers lookingg for yield. 3rd world countries with higher interest rates and plenty resources (then) attracted the investments. This cojntry had inflows of many billiions per month in investments into our bonds and in particular our bank and retailer stocks.
With the fed now starting to dry up o QE (quantitive easing) , and the improvement in USA and eurozone the money is flowing out a lot lot faster....and the fact ghat resources have been hammered help nil....no quick ZAR recovery on ghe cards. in
