Merit Rating Farkup.....
So at the end of the last season the handicappers explain WHY each horse will be allocated an extra 6points....so we had to eat up that crap, which according to my humble opinion was very unfair to MOST owners as they own the lesser animals,no offence meant. So since last the horses ratings have started dropping again, even after winning a race their ratings dropped example Stargazer Pink....so i guess this does mean that it was all a fark up????So if this is the case...dont they atleast owe the pure raing public an explanation of whats happening???Or have they done that already and i missed it????So now we must adapt/change to this new ratings...which in my humble opinion will only be possible to watch horses run once or 2*...Needless to say this has gotten the better of me in December...ok...even moaning/bitching...Adapt and overcome...Happy new year to all.God Bless

heinrich is very strange that no one is say why the decision is take to implement then to reverse the 6 point every horse is give. a friend who own many horse and now what is going on is tell me the tba and breeders push for these increase because they feel the higher mr the horse get the higher value the over seas purchasers put on our horse. this is show to be the bull shit when i think pylon is show to have the higher rate than the kentucky derby winner
to me the jockey club is the one who is at fault to allow these non sense to happen and i dont see any explanation or apology to come from these guys who make south africa the laughing stock of the raceing world.

I would use MR's more if the line horse is identified for each race... cos then I could use MY subjective rating ... (

Re: Re: MRF

The MR hike was intended to give horses in so called smaller centers a chance to compete in their own back yard against horses that had earned their ratings against stronger fields , that has subsequently been reversed and the PE and Kim horses have had theirs dropped 6 points...which would have been the right way to go in the first place..Stargazer Pink got a 3 point penalty for his last win and then had the 6 points deducted so he now runs off a MR68

Merit Rating Madness
Last updated on: December 31st, 2013Prior to the Cape Guineas Roman Manner was rated 89 and Power King was rated 87.In the Cape Guineas, at level weights, they almost dead-heated, Power King just putting his nose in front of his stable companion. They certainly showed level merit. But wait, someone decreed that in terms of handicapping guideline no 5:
Grade 1 & 2 races – Upward Adjustment to first 5 finishers only
Power King finished 5th and was subsequently raised a whopping 15 points to 102. Roman Manner finished 6th, therefore “in terms of the rules”, no adjustment, he stays 89!So despite Power King coming into the race rated lower than Roman Manner and finishing level with him (at level weights) he is now rated 13 points higher. If they meet in a handicap tomorrow, Power King will have to concede 6.5 kg to a horse he almost dead-heated with at level weights! Are these “ratings of merit” which give every horse an equal chance? How much longer must we put up with this insanity?PS: As it is, they are both eligible run next in the Politician Stakes on 11 January, (“Derby Trial”). In terms of the race conditions (based on their current respective ratings), Power King will carry 58kgs, while Roman Manner will carry 53,5kgs. Go figure!Via email – Jehan Malherbe

Harry good to I see you are back, can not stay away?
I do agree with you about the NHA they ate the most autocratic body in this country and they do not answer to anybody that is why they do not bother to explain their actions a nd very seldom gives feedback except in cases where jockey's trainer' s etc are fined as well as the reports on the daily racing, for the rest not much feedback
another aspect which I have mentioned before, but it seems nobody has a problem with that, is that the head of the NHA is also a partner in the firm of attorneys who does all the legal work for the NHA surely that must be a conflict of interest?t
