Black Caviar's Brother Dies...

An Article in the Racing Post has reported:-

Black Caviar's half-brother, who in April became Australia's most expensive yearling when selling for A$5 million, has died after suffering from laminitis.

The Redoute's Choice colt, known as Jimmy, is thought to have developed the condition after an allergic reaction to antibiotics being used to treat a swollen leg, which is believed to have been caused by a spider bite in November.

Mark Webster, managing director of auction house William Inglis and Son which held security over the half-brother to the champion mare, made the announcement on his blog on Sunday.

"At approximately 11am this morning the Redoute's Choice x Helsinge two-year-old colt known as Jimmy was euthanised on humane grounds at the Melbourne University Veterinary Hospital in Werribee, Victoria," Webster said.

"Jimmy was suffering from laminitis, a painful hoof condition that impacts on the mobility of horses."

BC3 Thoroughbreds signed for a record A$5 million for Jimmy at the Easter Sale but defaulted on payment along with several other horses who are now for private sale by Inglis.

Black Caviar, whose Casino Prince half-brother All Too Hard won three Group 1s in 2013, was retired in April after a brilliant career in which she was undefeated in 25 starts - 15 at the highest level.
