Shrek,the issue is that Prep runs seems to be a unique SA requirement.............in the UK there is an assumption that the trainer knows the fitness of a horse better than a panel !

MS now 10/1, it would be interesting to know how much the bookies are standing to win or lose on this one, either way it's big money

Prep runs are needed because sa trainers by in general are struggling....and again i dont want to sound controversial.
I dont get the following

1: a horse runs 6 times and wins 3 races and is rated 104, has a 3 month rest and needs to be eased into racing to see where it is
2: same trainer steps out an unraced horse without any REAL knowledge of how it will perform BUT the trainer is able to advise owners to have a bet and the horse ( which is prepared) WINS
3: 2 nd run after a rest bollocks....
3:1 horse A runs 6 times and then rests for 3 months, its come back run is ( needed) see above and it runs its next start below par because it bounced?????
3:2 horse B makes it debut runs 2 nd and 2 weeks later wins BUT that is not classified as 2 nd run after a rest????


They seem to have it both ways, the excuse that is.

Is a list of the final declarations available somewhere - I believe both Cherry on the Top and Rock Cocktail have not accepted ?

Agree with Rob F. Royal Bencher will be just about spot on for the Cup, yet will probably miss out looking at the log?! Surely then they should drop his MR if he doesn't make it?
