Great timing for the announcement..just before the Summerhill R2R sale..Ive given up there as they just use that sale as a gateway to the race...Personally I think that Summerhill have sold out...many horses in the R2R race were not even bred at Summerhill, and even prepared by trainers not at Summerhill, I wonder if they were ever at Summerhill?

"From 2015 onwards, the buy-in for both buyer and vendor at the Cape Premier Yearling Sale will be R15 000 each per horse, while the buy-in at the CTS March Yearling Sale will be R10 000 per horse for both buyer and vendor."
Using CPYS 2013 numbers as a base and the entry fee above......
Book 1 had 234 entries and Book 2 had 284 entries in 2013
234 x 30k = 7 020 000
284 x 20k = 5 680 000
So that's R 12 700 000 made up from buyers and vendors money.....for a 10 million race .......am I missing something here......?
Therefor a big well done to all buyers and sellers if they choose to go this route

That was not the point , I gave those examples to point out that there is a place for the underdog in racing

Perhaps I've got it wrong but is it not either buyer or vendor that has to pay an entrance for the sale?

yes but I think if one pays the other does not have to - If the breeder does not think the horse is good enough for the race and the owner decides to pay then you cannot force the breeder to pay surely and vice versa - It needs clarity

Oscar this sale was the brain child of MickeyGoss and Chris Smith but is run by the TBA and is not exclusive to Summerhill even gallops were run at 2 other venues other than that of Summerhill. Do you think Mick ever misses a trick.....he will also be schlepping babies to the Cape as CTS is not exclusive to Cape Breeders either.....

This year they collected monies from buyers on Book 1 for R1m race PLUS they launched the Book2 race series for R2.5m a year over three years – do these fall away now and be replaced by this big prize?
I hear this is the case.
I hear that these two races are now going to be just the one big one they have annoucned.
What about the 3 year Book 2 plan?
