It's not that there is too many jocks, it's that there is not enough racing

We haven't even seen a champion apprentice emerge yet, and we already we have another lot, Thackeray, fortune, godden, et al.

The struggling jocks that went to PE as things got tough in their other areas end up riding work for the bigger names that just fly in on race day, things were better for the jocks when racing was on the same day in Cape , JHB and Durban.

I really believe that the only way you'll get a champ nowadays is by being a natural - Guys like Felix (by his own admission was not the most natural talent) did well because he had a fantastic work ethic - I'm not so sure if the younger guys have that same dedication and work ethic - Just look how well Majuean has done because he work rides so much at the Vaal

peekay, I doubt MOST jocks have sponsors, probably only the top 20 % in each centre.

only a very few like Marcus has a retainer ( who else do u know that might have a retainer ? ) i haven't heard of any.
I would guess Richard Fourie may have a retainer from Snaith - if so, who knows how much ?

I am very happy for Chase. Very hardworking jock and he was going nowhere fast in KZN.

The top 40 are underpaid

From 41 downwards should be doing something else
