Titch... bud, how do you weigh up what is a hefty fine and what is not? As has been pointed out if Matchett or whoever associated with him who was in the know had just 10k on the horse at 7s or whatever, he has been fined just over half of his winnings?! :S ::o If I were trainer tempted by Darth Vador I think I would find that calculation pretty blardy tempting! :S And the form is irrelevant mate, that is hindsight. What about all the punters out there who have no idea about this and have/will continue to punt Orlando believing that was a fairly run race, can we be confident all the form guides will clearly show what happened? The horse has already run 5 times since ffs!!! and come nowhere each time. And it is not just about that one race which you may say not too many will be aggrieved about but 1. 1 punter losing out because of this is 1 too many and 2. I am not happy I have backed this horse in a subsequent run not knowing anything about this! Yes those on Orlando got lucky but that does not justify the loss for those on TGL. And what about all the possible doubles, trebles etc missed, it can add up to big sums and R100 can be a big sum to some punters. And where is the trainer's statement of explanation?

Fair enough, all the facts are probably not known and I would welcome someone publishing more if it is available so we don't do an unfair dismantling job.... AND... Good to see something done... BUT... on face value, imho nowhere near enough done.

Rant over B)-

?......it is not normally a one off jab that gets a horse into uber condition.......a trainer may have several horsesthat are not well muscled and loose weight and condition in work and with the aid of anabolic steroids builds up on the horse bringing it to peak condition then when it is now looking good and working well.......has the confidence to have a punt.......how many get beat and are not tested.......but alas I digress ban the sh1t.......there are other natural products that can be used to do similar......steroids just work faster but have dangerous side effects

Guy's, like the Good, has carried on about this subject and all its side effects to the animal, the only logical answer is a total ban. I had a horse running in a race where my horse ran 5th. The second placed horse was found to be pos and the trainer fined. The joke is that this trainer's other horse ran 3rd but was never tested. We were moved up to 4th and received our R difference. If I was a big gambler, I would have stood to receive all my place doubles etc ,which I lost on the day, had this horse not had an unfair advantage. I am sure most would be pissed !! The point I am making is that this is loose loose situation for all incl the owners of the 2nd placed horse. The fines in my opinion are far to low for the trainer and should carry a ban for that horse for a period of time ie. 6 months. The owner can have this ban lifted if he removes the horse from that trainer's yard to another trainer. This horse may not then go back to said trainer ever or wait out the period and carry on. I am sure trainers will think twice then of breaking the rules.

This is the tip of the iceberg, as I have said before. Serial dope artists out there courtesy of the NHRA lax rules.Still no word except to try and change the internationally accepted classification to suit the NHRA . They are only interested in covering their backsides:X

Trainers nationally have united and called for a total ban on all Anabolic steroids. This is part of the current reclassification of prohibited substances project which is almost completed.

Yeah Lou but they want to change the classification from 5 classes which is accepted internationally to 4. This is to suit their current bad position.

Goodie, they are an absolute joke. There is so much to say on so many issues, but I must wait until after our meet of 1st, to get go ahead from fellow members to go public.

Nothing to hide but I must respect the fact that there is a strategy in place and that I could seriously hamper the process by prematurely writing..... Also, for this whole National Trainers body to work, I must stay within agreed parameters, for the sake of unity.

Ultimately, I will write here on ABC first.

U guys have been amazing. To engage the NHRA the way u have shows how trainers are more concerned about the horses than given credit for.it will be an interesting story .
