trying to find homes for all the retirees is not practical as horses live 20 years plus so it's a long term commitment and Racing cannot be expected to keep tracks of a horse for that period of time. Culling is the only answer as cruel as it seems. Many people I know should not even be allowed to own a budgie let alone a horse.

?.......the bigger picture and killing 2 birds with one stone.......is to put into legislation that possetion of horses has to licensed so that it can be controlled......in that way a licence or passport document has to be updated when horses receive yearly AHS shots just as they do when in racing.......any horse with out a licence or passport showing yearly AHS inoculation is confescated and impounded waiting for licensed adoption or destroyed.......people we have an AHS problem that is sucking mountians of money out of a potential horse export boom......control the horse and it would be less likely that they land up in the hands of a sick abuser......

The funding could come from Horse Racing and breeding through the sales arms as they would be the ones to gain from lifting export protocols......

article and pic from SPCA that the horse is trotting again = well done to the SPCA and all involved helping this horse get back on to its feet.

FANTASIA'S FIRST TROT

On Sunday, 29 September 2013, Fantasia trotted for the first time! We never thought we would see the day. Look at the length of that stride, and she was almost, almost sound.

Thank you to you all for your ongoing su...pport and care.
