A Scandal
11 years 9 months ago
I wanted to write this away from Flash return thread.
Is it not a scandal that in 2013 a man or woman or child will die in sa unless they can afford medical aid. Shocking to read that his bills are i. Excess of 3 million rand, who has that money? Everyday on here we argue about silly things like couplings or the vissers.
There are enough brains on this site to start effecting change. It cannot continue to be that if you are poor you die not in a country where there is so much wealth. There has to be another option.
Maybe the option is a getting together of as many people as possible hopefully 100 000 and they ALL suspend their medical aid direct debits for 1 month? Or we at ABC each sign up to donate r500 a month into a slush fund to be used to help someone, it could be one of us that live in sa but cant afford medical aid. I know i am rambling on and i am glad that flash is alive of course i am but this thing really irks me.
I have a lad that works for me here in the uk he is a saffa and is hiv positive. He cannot live in sa because he could not afford the drugs. This is not a good thing, this is where ALL south africans should stand together, death and sickness affects all, its not party dominated. Your political views dont need to come into it.
In any persons hour of need the last thing they need is the worry of a huge bill or heaven forbid treatment denied because of lack of funds.

Why do you think the NH service in the UK is on its knees? We have freeloaders flying in from all over the world taking advantage
of our Health Service. We are running out of beds to treat our own old and infirm. We pay for the NHS in taxes over our working life..

Easy, SAF is working on getting the NHS as well. Unfortunately a slush fund would not be a good idea as almost everyone in SAF is in that position - (cannot afford medical aid) and you cannot help everyone. However, I see there has been an initiative from someone in the Uk to start a crowd fund for medical cases in the world, this could be something that could be investigated.

Hi easy,
Your thoughts are well intended and very honourable indeed - However you seem to be out of touch with the African reality... There is so many people in the same situation as your employee back here in the African Continent.
THE REALITY "EASY" IS THAT THE SOUTH AFRICAN "WHITEY" IS ALREADY SATURATED OF FUNDING SO MANY CAUSES HE SHOULD NOT BE LIABLE FOR - LET ME DRAW YOUR ATTENTION TO THE FOLLOWING:
1-HEALTH SYSTEM
2-ELECTRICITY
3-WATER SUPPLY
4-ROADS AND INFRA-STRUCTURE
And perhaps the biggest of them all is the Public Services which is there just to keep people who are otherwise unproductive earning an income - We pay for all this by the way of taxation "Easy", and we are tired, very tired.
I am sure your subordinate did not tell you about these issues...

@Speculator et al:
the points you raise are valid and of dire concern.
in this country also, we have freeloaders (our neighbouring 'African brothers n sistas!) and a league of illegals!
you remember some time back, together with Dr AK Tshabalala, I approached clan members for assistance to establish a clinic in the Lanseria precinct?
We at SA First Party are fully cognizant of the problems besetting ALL SOUTH AFRICANS.
Whatever suggestions you post here, we will take full cognizance....no need for politicking!
Just a note: SA First does not necessarily want your membership....just your input and support when it matters!
We are all sick and tired of this moaning and bitching (most of it justified) like you; together, we can get results!
It's time for regime change!

If only your government SPENT their money more wisely on a threat that was never there in the first place a lot of pain and suffering would have been alleviated.
Just my thoughts though Dave

I was under the impression that these are given out at clinic and hospital free of charge surely this is the case

I might be out of touch with sa but i am not out of touch with humanity.
I assume you are a whitey?
If so as things stand right now could you nd you household afford r500 per month
If so then find a child and feed that child.
I have tried where i can to assist umlillo in various projects. Here in the uk my company assists people every week in getting work, via a 2 week training experience.
What i am saying is ere is aLways a bit more to do, and if we look towards ourselves we can do it.
Tis medical thing is a difficult one but it does need looking at.
