I think the idea was if a then 2 year old ran against an older horse prior to 1 August and ratings were established , if and when they met again after 1 August the 6 pound increase had to apply to both for the ratings to make sense .

Rob,

all horses across the board have been raised 6 MR points bar PE.

So Garibondy got 7 points for last win, goes from an 80 to an 87,then 6 points added to all horses,a 93 now.

7 pts for her last win seems appropriate considering the consumate ease of victory,so nothing untoward here.

this is an absurd ruling...generally and i stress generally..towards june july its easier to win in open company than it is to win in a juvenile race...the 3 and 4 year olds are pretty much in their place by then...and the good 2 year olds are just about coming thru...so to get an extra 6 points...when infact the oppisition is not all that great is absurd to say the least

Rob,

I don't think your conclusion about Dolomiti is right. It won last season,so how can there be a 4 year old cap on it,it only turned 4 on 1 Aug.

Race 5 looks like a minefield to me. Think one of the 3 year olds to win.

Confused ny the weights though: why does mares 5 and 6, two five year olds, carry less weight than lower rated 4 year olds?

Can someone explain why lonesome dove never incurred the 6pt penalty

Tim and Jap,lets forget the merits of the specific horse for a minute and look at the theory:

a)Horses A and B meet as 2yr olds,at level weights and are separated by a short head
b) in July horse A runs UNPLACED in open company so becomes liable to the automatic 6 points merely for competing
c)they meet in Aug and suddenly horse A has to concede horse B 3kg

How do you make sense of that?

Rob,

all horses across the whole crop, irrespective of age have been raised 6 points in MR.It has nothing to do with when they last raced,I think it came into effect 1 Aug.

This has something to do with being on a par with international ratings.

Not sure why you are confused about this?

I'm actually wrong about when it happened I think, don't think 1 Aug was the date.

Look at Dodge City,race 7.Ran on 6 Aug off a 64,now a 70.

All horses are up 6 pts in MR,that's all I know for sure.

I woul guess it was dropped six points because of its last two bad runs, so with the 6 point bump the MR stayed the same...

Rob, my guess is, because Garibondy had won a handicap as a two year old she was also given the six point raise in line with the older horses. If she wasn't she would have in effect only have been given a 1 point penalty for her win.
