Ex racehorses

So what happens to those horses that are not profitable? In South Africa?

I think there is no denying that most (some)become a meal ... 'soup meat' as they are referred to...
So where are these slaughter houses in South Africa?

If some do relish a horse steak, and some do, or simple relish a meal per se,then surely a steroid, antibiotic pumped ex racehorse is not fit for human consumption? Are there any regulations?
