Tragic Accident At The Royal Show :(

Tragedy has struck at the Royal Show in Pietermaritzburg. A five-year-old boy has died after an accident when standing up while on one of the funfair rides - the teacup ride.

The tragic incident took place at around midday yesterday during a school tour to the popular show.

Shocked organisers say it's believed the young boy stood up while the ride was in operation, and was then hit by another car on the ride.

The operator who witnessed the accident immediately stopped the ride.

The boy received immediate treatment at the emergency services facility located at the showgrounds.

CPR was performed on him, but he tragically died a short while later.

An inquest into the matter is being opened and police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

i get goose bumps hearing about these kinda stories,as i have young kids of my own ,who are constantly going on these tours...sympathies to the parents and teachers and the other children who witnessed the traumatic scenes...god be with you

Awful. I have a 5 year old son and hate to imagine what the boys parents are going through. Deepest sympathies to the boys family.

Accidents happen so quickly a parent and grand parents worst fears .. Deepest sympathies to all concerned.

Such a tragedy, someone who hasn't been able to experience life to the fullest. Only God knows what the parents are going through. RIP young one

Every parents worst nightmare,i'm gutted.

Tragic. At what age doesn't a child need to be accompanied by an adult on such rides? Or is it height related?

A very tragic accident.May God give his parents strengh to cope with this.Im sure I would not be able to cope mentally if it was my daughter.An absolute nightmare!!!
