I think most jocks would have done the same as Gavin so I'm not sure that was amateurish as he actually looked like a winner everywhere but the line (he had to hit the front at some point ) - Going on the Bronze Star run Gavin has actually managed to gain almost 3 lengths on Stormy Cape over C/D. The Race was also a second slower than the Bronze Star race.

Make no mistake Gavin also a first class jock but in this race Strydom was exceptional.

You hear of tactical riding where a horse that is going the better of the two horses running to the line and the jockey that has the horse that is running straight changes the whip from the left hand to the right hand and his bumps that horse that is coming on to him that is what you call clever riding because he gets the call from the board room but Gavin's rideing was shit.

It was Kenilworth KF went round the field to lead and then eased up on the bend and Conrad along with a few others came down...

Lots being said, so I will give my opinion as well on the various points made:

Firstly, Striker a top jock and showed that again with a top ride.

GL imo low on self-confidence - but too good a jock for that to last long.

GL did look a bit desperate in that finish, but at least no-one can accuse him of not 'trying'; and Striker has never been a afraid to apply a bit of 'leaning on to the opposition' (remember Yard-Arm) himself - race riding is not always just about posing for the cameras

Yes, Dragon Fay improved, but I would not say all of the improvement was due to GL riding - the blinkers must have helped as well

And in closing, Gavin has ridden a couple for us, and I would not hesitate to have him riding for us again - he always comes across sincere and at least looks determined to give his ride every possible chance, which I can not say is the case for alll jocks that threw a leg over one of ours
