Cape Town - West Indian Chris Gayle has smashed the fastest ever century in cricket history as he helped the Royal Challengers Bangalore to the highest ever total in T20 cricket history.
Gayle’s 175 not out off 66 balls helped the Royal Challengers post a mammoth 263 for five off their allotted 20 overs against the Pune Warriors India in the Indian Premier League on Tuesday.
Gayle reached his century off 30 balls - a new world record in any form of cricket, breaking Australian Andrew Symonds' previous record of 34 balls.

Gayle’s innings included 14 fours and 17 sixes.
South Africa's AB de Villiers also smashed a valuable 31 off eight balls, while Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan (33 off 36) was the other main contributor.

Watched the highlites. Amazing innings.
He literally broke the stadium to go to his 100, two further balls went out the park. All over the park. think the team scored 22 sixes he had 17 of them.
The bowlers looked broken. Alan Donald the bowling coach was shell shocked.
At the end he was tired and just rotated strike. End of inning the other team came up to congratulate him.
Very special.

I heard during the innings the third umpire had to replace the ball 6 times.
