What ratings are these, Hibs?

What A Winter was the highest rated South African bred sprinter last year by the IFHA ( www.ifhaonline.org/resources/2012Ranking...12_WorldRankings.asp ), on a rating of 120. I think that placed him 9th in the world for turf sprinters in 2012 (Black Caviar 130).

In 2011, J J was our highest rated at 122, 4th in the world (Black Caviar 132).

In 2010, J J was our highest rated at 122, 2nd in the world (Black Caviar 123).

In 2009, J J was our highest rated at 117. (Sacred Kingdom and Scenic Blast 122).

In 2008, J J was our highest rated at 120, 5th in the world (Sacred Kingdom 123).

I know courses are all different but when Black Caviar won her 23rd start she clocked (I think) 55.41 (or 55.71) for a track record. Via Africa won on the bit at Clairwood on Saturday in 55.66 .... I checked Val De Ra's times and the best she clocked was 56.55 ..... carrying 57kg's ...

This is just 'loose' comparisons before everyone starts tearing me apart as regards tracks, conditions such as wind, weight carried, penetrometer readings .... {dons helmet}

That rating is not a South African rating. It's by the IFHA - International Federation of Horseracing Authorities.
