Anton is probably the straightest of them all...where issues like this arise, is not because of him giving favs a miss, this is simply that bookmakers are pricing up Anton as a strong fav in very open races, and so when a horse deserves to be 3/1, the minute Anton is booked, from a half decent draw, this horse opens up 18/10. So every "mug" punter gets drawn into this and loses their money, not because Anton is playing games, but because the punter has fallen for the bookmakers tactics.
Because of Anton being so good as what he does, bookmakers price up odds shorter when he is booked: 1) To reduce their liability, and 2) To fool "mug" punters.
How many times have you seen a race priced up at 5/10, 2/1, 5/1 BAR and Anton has ridden the top two in the betting before. Everyone automatically thinks the one he is riding now is the right one, and also the betting suggests that to. This is where punters gets stuck out. 1) Can he make the weight of both horses...2) Is one of them a Jooste horse which he is forced to ride...3) Does he have to ride for Charles?
These kind of factors are what should go through a punters head before "assuming" things...
Charles Laird, Anton Marcus, Markus Jooste...1st timer gets priced up 1/1 in a 16 horse field, and it gets rolled. Not because the jock has played games, but because of the perception of that combination, and something that bookmakers use to their advantage.

Agree, case in point ,Race 2 at clairwood yesterday. The van Zyl camp said Lerena was on the right one yet the Bookies priced Anton favourite on the stable companion.

Ruthless Robbie Fradd!!
All you experts talking from your pockets! He was Champion Jockey in Mauritius & Hong Kong. Very hard to go missing on favourites due to his agressive riding style. Quit the jockey bashing, if you having a bet & lose, take it like a Man!!! That's the name of the game, that is why it is called gambling......
