Punters want a fixed-price product so value can be locked in and the Tote needs a strategy to fight back against the bookmakers ................one day somebody at "P" will realise that is what a betting exchange is .....a fixed price tote ...........somebody there needs to read the findings of the Dept. of Trade and Industries gambling commission..........they recognised it.
They even recommended betting exchanges be licenced..........Saftote are just a step away from bolting a fixed price tote on to the present platform
One day exchanges will come and we will have to listen to the CEO moan about the competition, instead of admitting to missed opportunity!
Why? because Interbet are also only a step away .........all they need is a licence to allow the public to lay...........as recommended by the commission!

Tipster
Three horses in a 3 horse field at odds of
8/10,
15/10
2/1
100/1.8 = 55.6
100/2.5 = 40
100/3 = 33.3
percentage book = (55.6 + 40 + 33.3) = 128.9
i.e bookmakers have a 28.9% advantage.
I understand that but you haven’t proven how the bookmaker gets his 28.9%

I have been on both sides of the fence and please understand that percentages are more theory rather than reality and the chances of a bookie holding a "proper " book with the exception of the July, Met, Summer Cup etc are remote.
The bottom line is punt what u fancy based on what odds u think are value with your bookie at a fixed price and may the best horse or man win and who cares about the other transactions in the race, it's you vs the cream cookie at a fair fixed priced
Good punting

On the tabgold Betting form there is an important information section explaining how the results are determined, but there is nothing about lots being drawn if a match is called-off .Yesterday, I spoke to several people at Clairwood, who only play the Soccer 13, and no one knew anything about lots being drawn and before you claim it is Gold Circles fault, there were a few boys from other provinces who I asked.
I wonder if the boys on Neil Andrew`s Saturday knew?

Tipster you talk rubbish let alone understand anything about sa bookmakers and percentages.
SA bookies give stretches on all the advertised odds eg 2-1 5/2 and you can get a fair size bet and you will not have account closed.
In UK they do not lay stretches they do not give big bets unless you are a loser and they do not give credit like in SA.
So before you talk about SPS think about the odds with stretches available ,interbet is laying to around 103 110 % thats the true market price.

Do they include the stretch when they deduct for scratched horses?

Gotta agree with you there, as they do not factor in the strech when they deduct !

Pick your horse have your bet and then have a drink and chill! Percentages are smll they can't hurt as much as a really bad hangover. Then again i could be a drunk!!
