You can't blame marcus,if u watch the replay he looked back to see if any of the other jockeys had pulled up the mounts,he was the furthest horse in front, and secondly I'm sure he was just doing what any other jockey would have and tried to win as no siren went of for a false start.

If Marcus had loitered and MS had then come out, been ridden and gone and won the race, or any other horse for that matter, AM would have been absolutely hammered for not riding the horse. He did what he had to do. Saying all the jocks would have stopped is pure speculation and imho unprofessional. I also don't blame the other jockeys for looking around unsure of what was happening. Just one of those things and I don't think anyone should blame any jockey, even in part. To do so is, to my mind, completely absurd.

I just wanna bring up another point , since these So called stipes are bound by the rules !

SHOW ME JUST ONE TIME WHERE THEY HAVE IMPLEMENTED THE RULE FOR IN AND OUT RUNNING !

JUST ONE !

Todays decision was poor and as Bushy writes Rob Foux actually warns these clowns of the dangers of this idiotic rule .

There is no consistency in racing , some rules are orhtodoxly enforced others are not even looked at . Objections with similar events in them have been inconsistently dealt with . Hollywood and certain other bookmakers build their goodwill just by using common sense . Stipes cant use common sense , they have rules , rules which were probably just put together to fill up a rule book . There answer to todays events , ie meeting abandoned shows their character
and their disregard for us jo punters . We fuckin got no voice man , just revenue for them !

Whoever said Anton Marcus is even party to blame for what happened because he followed the rules must have had money on My Sanctuary and vented their anger at a third party......

Are you kidding me????

AM is by FAR the most professional jockey in South Africa. He would NEVER do anything to screw anyone out of a dime......

I feel sorry for the punters as they got screwed, they got screwed by a flawed rule and by even more flawed decision making. Blaming even the smallest part of this on Anton is the silliest thing I have ever heard in my young life.

Come now people, think with your heads not your pockets.

Good job Busy! nice write up dude.

Anton was 100% right. The rest were wrong. Until you hear the siren the race is on. As in Rugby,Football and any other sport you play to the whistle. You might think you are offside but if the Ref does not call it and you score it is a goal/try. What would have happened if the filly had got back from the bad start and won. Would they still be calling for her to be declared a non runner? You cannot have it both ways.

I blame Craig Peters, who gives him the right to insinuate there could be a false start. If the white flag was raised it meant all the runners were under starters orders, only one gate never open but craig started confusing the riders by shouting there could be a false start and kept giving punters hope by asking them to hold onto tickets before the race even finished. Maybe they should look at bringing that flagman 200 meters in front of the starting stalls like the old days so if there is a problem like this again he can get informed via the two way radio to send them back. Craigs duty is to call the race, let the starters and stipes call for reviews and false starts!

Lol, best April fools post ever. Like the classic radio chirp " I can see the spaghetti in the fields swaying in the breeze"
And to do it early in March...brilliant!
