I see in The Times this morning the toodler rapist is pleading for help because he is being raped in jail.

Cape Town - A Cape Town man accused of raping a 4-month old baby is expected to go on trial in the Parow Regional Court in three months, according to a report on Wednesday.

The Cape Argus reported that the 54-year-old man has been in custody since 20 October and has not yet been asked to plead.

It is the State's case that the baby's mother left her in the man's care on the night of 19 October while she went out.

The baby was sleeping when she was dropped off.

A short while later, the constant crying of a baby was heard by a traffic officer living in the same complex.

The officer went to investigate and knocked on the door for about 10 minutes. When the man eventually opened the door, he allegedly said he had been sleeping.

The baby was inside, wrapped in a blanket.

According to the report, the baby's mother later changed her daughter's nappy and found blood.

She was checked medically and found to have been raped.

The man was denied bail in the Bellville Magistrate's Court and would appear in the regional court on 4 June.
