What is abundantly clear is that some of you have nothing better to do. And it's quite pathetic.

... and I defended that right for trainers to drink(as did others) ..BUT people have a right to ask questions even if it upsets you Ruby ... You seem to want everyone to agree with you or keep silent.

Question? "No No Definately No . Its unacceptable I watched a certain trainer at the Vaal who was so drunk he tried to drink his drink and he missed his mouth & spilled the alcohol down his shirt . Disgusting !!!"

That is no question. That is an accusation!

Was the trainer finished saddling for the day? Does dear Superstar know? Did his horse's saddle slip?

Very unprofessional for a trainer to drink on a raceday is my opinion don't want to mention a trainers name but when they interviewed him after his horse won he face was so red mumbled his words it was quite embarrasing not to mention the presenter at the time

Most of the trainers are not drinking, they celebrating good wins acquired through solid inside info they have access to .....
However you punters drink cause you drowning your sorrows....

Bunch of gambleholic losers... go feed your wives and daughters with the money you gambling away!!
Form poker clubs, have rummy evenings, watch your children grow instead of slumping over your computer losing your money as per some 'formguide'

I have a problem with the word "allowed".

Next we will be prescribing their hours of work. Their income is based purely on their performance, and their reputation. The owners have freedom of choice here. If you don't like your alcoholic trainer, get another one.

There is nothing wrong with trainers having a drink or two with their patrons, especially after a win.
In any case it is usually the owners that buy the trainers a drink to celebrate.
It is about fostering a good relationship between a trainer and his patrons. It happens week in and week out.

If however, you have entrusted your thoroughbreds in the care of a perpectual drinker, then you have made an unwise move.

Should the host of a party be allowed to consume alcohol with his guest? Just asking!!!!!

No Dear ruby clipper , It is not a Question neither an Accusation it is a Fact, that is what I saw .
It is of no importance of whether he had finished saddling up or not , the fact is that he was drunk and that is unacceptable .

When a trainer has runners on the day, is he classified as being on duty and who has the authority to act on the owner's behalf if the horse bolts or the jockey is injured or whatever?

Now if this trainer is punch-drunk and won't know Arthur from Martha, should he not be fired for " drinking on the job ":)o

And why is it unacceptable? Because he was driving home afterwards? Is he not allowed to drink? No, that was refuted much earlier on in this thread. (But maybe because he's a trainer it's more unacceptable that with anyone else?). Best they cancel all celebrating around the July and J&B Met then. Because, according to this genius, even if you have won the July, and you have finished all your raceday duties, you are NOT ALLOWED to drink, because he finds it "unacceptable". And he is the *authority* on this matter.
