Drinking is part of the social package that many owners enjoy - I did - remember the fitness of the horse has been established way before the drinking starts.

The jockeys check their own girths at the start, and trust me the trainer cannot saddle alone, you need TWO people to do it. (well I guess they could both be blotto drunk and stuff it up).
Saddles slip because the horse needs a BREASTPLATE, not because of a drunk trainer.
And what was the other huge danger that a trainer presents? Oh yeah, he might give the wrong instructions! Bwahahaha! Really? Bwahahaha! Have you ever listened to the trainers give instructions in the parade ring?
The biggest danger he poses, and this is a very real one, is driving home on the same road as your wives, sons and daughters.
@Rob Faux: who is *anyone* to judge the actions of others if they do worse themselves... That is my logic. Like puffing on a cigarette and telling your kids not to smoke. That is my logic.
This is a ridiculous thread, and is a perfect set up for character assassination.
Clearly the Oscar story has become boring and now everyone needs something else to bitch about.
If you are unhappy with any trainer's conduct, at any time, anybody has the right to lodge a complaint with the Stipendiary Board or NHRA. It's within the rules. Now go and complain. Get out from behind your greasy keyboards, and grow those balls and go and do something about it. But once again, we have these keyboard warriors who will hide behind pseudonyms and judge and insult. But hey, it's a bunch of saints on here...

Ruby,2 wrongs don't make a right........you seem to think anything is justified as long as you can find some vaguely similar transgression.
(BTW I have no problem with trainers drinking anytime .......its how well the job is done that counts!..........however if a jock fell off because of a slipped saddle and the responsible person was clearly p!ssed,I guess it would hit the fan!)

2 wrongs don't make a right? Failing to see that logic here. I'm saying don't judge. If anyone here has witnessed a drunk trainer causing harm to a horse, or injury to a jockey/ groom/ owner, please come forward and present your case to the authorities. They will deal with it.
I agree that drunk trainers are a disgrace, but this thread is to. All hearsay and supposition.
And.... what about if a punter places a poor bet because he is "pissed" and then blames everyone else for his loss?
Oh what? That ridiculous? Exactly. Poor thread. And make sure you have facts if you want to start discussing this in the public forum.

Well Ruby someone was KILLED there and I don't think ABC is the only site talking about that --- actually everywhere I go someone is talking (not BITCHING) about that.

No, but it is the only site talking about whether trainers should drink on course or not. With not logical reason given. Really?
Rather go back to the Oscar subject, because you've got a whole lot of facts to discuss there. Now run off and be good little boys then...
