Martial Eagle

From a punters perspective, what was wrong with his prep for the Met. The tipsters were talking up horses like Slumdogmillionaire and Bravura who he had beaten convincingly in his prep runs. The only question mark I can see is probably the step up in distance. Sometimes, in fact quite often, I think punters place too much emphasis on the yard, trainer and jockey. After his run in the Queen's Plate I would never have expected him to go off at 75/1. I had him pegged as a good EW. I am not a punter so I would love your views on this.

If Variety Club had accepted for the Met, would he have been favorite? Martial Eagle was only 2.35 lengths off him and running on strongly. 75/1 ?????

A great call to supplement him for the met and a good job preparing him to win it .
Tarry on tellytrack had sited him as the dark horse on form as he had a 2kg pull with the principle queens plate runners .
In contrast and with the benefit of hindsite , Love struck bypassed the derby which he probably couldve won or run close up as he would have beaten the politician runners meetintg them at levels there . Could he have passed CTN ? who knows?
@ Gb , he was with Drier , but had problems and was sent to Yogus , apparently Drier gave Yogus some pointers on how to fix some of those problems !

I think they knew Hill 54 was good enough to win this race, that's why they didn't bother putting VC in.

Was a gift of a price if anyone did take it, guess many wrote him off due to his age... well done to all concerned...
Prep was sound though... very surprised at the odds, I myself didnt play that race, and I too would of over looked him in all my bets, even was handicapped to run 2nd... would of gone with the top jocks to delivery...
Well done to Yogas for turning him out the way he did, and well done to Plattner racing
