Jockey Championship
12 years 5 months ago
Not sure of the current standings so far.. bt pretty sure these 2 are fairly high up on the boards.
Pierre Strydom n Shawn Cormack, call me biased, coz I'm also a durbanite bt I'm really rooting for shawn, quality jockey nw riding in the cape mostly for Snaith n Drier, gives him the perfect opportunity to mount a proper challenge for the jockey championship against S.A's current champion Anton marcus.
Same appliers to Pierre strydom, riding like absolute masterpiece, perfect example on sunday, Gray's champ, flew from the back of the field, devouring the ground with each n every stride piloted by striker, and if he continues with Tarry, we might very well see a very exciting journey to the jockey championship title between, Shawn, Pierre and Anton.

Seems to be no hunger/ambition amongst Cape Jockeys
Must be the first time in 20+ yrs we have none in the top five
The best { Felix Coetzee and Andrew Fortune} injured
The most promising and exiting SA prospect, Richard Fourie lost to HongKong
err...maybe R250 000 not worth chasing?:S

Maybe Titch could help here but when a jockey travels at R5,000 ? A time and 4 times a week = R20,000 x 4 per month = R 80,000 x say 10 months = R800,000 ?
The R5000 maybe high but if I wanted to jump on a plane to Cape and back in short notice or might stay over?
The travel costs must be high to chase 1/4 of a Million, I am aware it's a bonus over and above the winnings and riding fees but must be a substantial factor.

I'm interested to see Musi Yeni right up there with them. I knew he was doing well but wasn't aware he was doing THAT well ... good to see.

Scotty most of the jocks that travel have a sponsor or are covered by the stable they ride for (partially) and I believe that they can use the travel costs as a tax write off...

Nothing and nobody will beat Strydom this year.....he said it in the beginning of the season and he will prove it.....you dont have to travel all the time to win the championship, you only travel for big races.....and he surely riding everyone to pieces this year.....best in this country
