How to win the place accumulator....
12 years 6 months ago
We had some good posts on the Jackpot thread posted last week. Maybe we could get some good tips on the PA from the experts. Any ideas for winning the PA?

Always take perms for the favourite to run off the board so always have 2 horses per leg even if the favourite is deep in the red. If i do banker a runner that i strongly fancy then the percentage will be higher and i do take another PA with a lower percentage adding another horse it that leg. Below is sum of my PA winnings last week. I took a perm for R121.50 and ended up collecting close on 12grand. I caught 1 PA that paid R46000 and ended up collecting 18grand. If you are taking PA's in the overseas venue take it with the bookmaker cos if you catch it numerous times it will wont affect the payout.

pick your pa before looking at the betting....use form grids over normal form, especially in open looking races...dont be scared to put 6/7 horses in a open looking handicap..those are called go-thru races...even if u dont show a profit in that leg,its fine....when it looks a match in 2...put in both horses..u either double up...or the dividend doubles up if one goes missing...unless u really fancy 1 over the other, then banker it.
at a glance of a card...u can decide if its gonna be a big perm or small perm, judging by the size of fields.
i could take a perm 1 day for R8.00 and another for R8000.00...SO in terms of size of perm...there is no set pattern...i cant say i take a r32.00 ,every meeting....but i can tell u i take a set amount every meeting...the % varies.
my aim is to make 3,4,5 times my money in the pa...so if i spend R5000.00 on a meeting,i would look to receive between 15 000 and 25000 rands...anything over is a bonus...
different centres require different structures...for example in kimberley..if its an open race...i would put in just the 4 way coupling no matter the form of the other 3 ,if 1 of the four is favourite..expecting that trainer to dominate that race...no form studying required.it works in this centre..worked very well with the miller yard
if a horse was supported in kimberley and didnt win...follow through with that horse next time,no matter the form,it usually crops up,especially sham, rugg, wgc miller yards...now even the vissers....not the smaller yards..i give them a miss
these are my factors...usually catch nice ones in minor centres...love the pe and kimberley meetings.
shouldn't be discussing this aspect, because i need bigger pools to play into...but all my mauritius and borrowdale pa's are taken with bookies..normally the pools are aroulnd R60-80 thousand...so i play for the pool.
no need tp take a pa R 5000 times straight line in this centres....'cos if it pays r20.00....u can only win 60 000 ,which is the pool...so it was a risk that wasn't warranted, here u take an r8.00 or 16.00 perm 300 times...u will still be gurananteed a payout of around 60.000 because if the didvidend was small u should have doubled and trebled up in your perm and if u didnt the dividend would have eventually have been larger because fancied horses would have fell away...but 1 rule play to catch...dont u decide the dividend and grudge strong horses, because u are worried what it will pay if it placed

I am terrible at PAs in general. My dad is quite good, he catches it almost every day, but he is small punter, usually playing for 1%. His strategy is to look at the first 4 in the betting and make a combination based on that. He usually plays for R6,50 1%. He does not look at the horse's owner or breeding, or the jockey who is riding... he just looks at the betting..

Not being funny, but ask Mr H to post a single line PA every morning and then build around it, I think the guy is absolutely brilliant at place bets (tu) ... shame its not my style of betting otherwise I would follow, follow, follow!!!
