@Gajima:

Tnx but that is from Monday where the reporter has everything mixed up (including Ian jayes as a consultant to Phindi- which he is not!).

Shows the extant of ignorance about the industry..... and how difficult for a journo to contend with names, etc!!!!

Phindi, Jayes and Mr Simoto presented on Monday.

Mr Jayes was introduced as Ms Kema's racing advisor.

The coverage in the media so far has, in my opinion been fair, and to be frank pretty extensive, in the case of Business Day, considering the lack of media interest in the racing industry.

I am disappointing that more extensive coverage has not come from the likes of racing publications like the sporting post however I understand the costs and time constraints and have no doubt that they will do more once they are in possession of the non confidential witness transcripts.

The tribunal is open to the public (as disappointing as that is to some) as are the non confidential witness statements and transcripts. The matter is the single biggest decision facing the racing industry today and deserves independent review. As such I wont express my opinions here but I will say that a lot of what is being debated on this forum is speculative, misinformed and biased, as it relates to the competition commission, and if you want to form your own opinion from the facts then for the first time ever you have an opportunity to do so.

Finally I would add that regardless of the outcome horse racing will be better off for having to look itself in the mirror and stand answerable to a thorough cross examination of the state of play today.

Now I am befogged :S (2nd guess what I'm on!):

Teamwild states:
'Phindi, Jayes and Mr Simoto presented on Monday.

Mr Jayes was introduced as Ms Kema's racing advisor.'

The Business Day states (15 October):

'The parties then approached the Competition Tribunal to overturn the prohibition. They argued that without the transaction, the industry in the Western Cape ‘would die’. But Ms Kema and her special adviser Ian James on ...'

A difference between 'racing advisor' and 'special adviser' then?

:S :S :S

@teamwildracing:

'...from the official transcript'

Lol!

What about posting the rest of the transcripts so that there is no conjecture, speculation, bias, etc?

I understand yesterday's (Tuesday) proceedings were interesting?

Vidrik T, chairman of WCR will face cross examination today, tried to claim confidentiality on KZN WCR board dispute yesterday but refused. This could be very interesting. Pity I can't PVR the show ;)

I saw some of it early yesterday (Wednesday 17 Oct) morning - imo she came across well - very interesting this, but personally I'm not sure that there would be any significant changes in practice, no matter what the ruling is?

I have it from someone attending the tribunal today that the Viking is under heavy fire and the boat is taking on water fast!

Bomb Shell!!!!

... it finally gets revealed by VT that one of the sources of funding for Kenilworth Racing is that PHM will extend loans to Kenilworth and in return will take the WC properties as security!.... and surprise... this has not been disclosed to WC members... I guess its not a material fact when you consider the track record of PHM has never been to strip assets :(

Cant wait for VT to disclose the quantum of the profit share management agreement which I very much doubt has been disclosed to members either..... standby

I think its time bookmakers priced up the CC decision as it would seem its not a foregone conclusion like the PHM soothsayers have been predicting! I know where my money will be going ;)
