IT’S believed the gunmen, dubbed ‘The Polo Gang’, involved in the armed robbery at The Ridge Spar, Sunningdale, have been linked to 10 hijackings and robberies in Durban North, Umhlanga and Phoenix in the last two weeks.

After robbing Spar in Sunningdale on Sunday morning, the suspects reportedly robbed a cash-in-transit officer at the Phoenix Plaza on Monday morning.

Durban North/Umhlanga Community Police Forum chairman, Haden Searles, said a provincial task team had been put together to apprehend the gang.

There are reportedly between 10 and 13 men, in their 40s, driving in a VW polo and silver Nissan bakkie.


Lt Raymond Deokaran, spokesman for Durban North/Umhlanga police station urges anyone with information to contact the station 031 560 8000.
