Why would you? imo there can be no value betting sports on the tote after the 25% tax
TAB is proud to announce the launch of Rugby 1, a new and exciting single-match rugby bet.
The first Rugby 1 bet will be in operation on the match between South Africa and Australia at Loftus Versveld this Saturday. Betting opens today, Tuesday 25 September and the pool will close when the match kicks off.
“We believe Rugby 1 will be a big hit with rugby fans,” said Phumelela’s Executive Director Sports Betting Vee Moodley. “TAB’s existing rugby bet, Rugby 5, is a multi-match bet, whereas Rugby 1 focuses on a single match and will enable rugby fans to back the team they support when they believe their team has a winning chance.”
There are 7 result options to choose from in Rugby 1:
1 = Team A to win by difference of 1 to 7 points (say 10-9, 15-9, 12-5)
2 = Team A to win by difference of 8 to 14 points (say 17-9, 24-12, 29-15)
3 = Team A to win by difference of 15 points or more (say 18-3, 29-8, 20-3)
4 = Draw
5 = Team B to win by difference of 1 to 7points
6 = Team B to win by difference of 8 to 14 points
7 = Team B to win by difference of 15 points or more
The minimum amount that can be bet on any one of the result options in Rugby 1 is R6. You can bet more than R6 in multiples of R1 (example R7, R10, R12, R20, R28, R200 etc).

another stupid bet by vee but i guess he has to find new ideas to make money for his employers and the 25% cut they take will keep them happy even if the pools are as abysmal as the the rugby 5.i guess 25% of 50-80k on rugby5 is better than 25% of nothing if they didnt offer the bet.my fear is they are bleeding the poor punters dry with all these bets and eventually the punters shrinking gambling kitty will run out thus affecting there horse pools.there is only so much money the poor addicted gamblers hv to punt with and because the pools are so small on these rugby bets its not in punters best interests to play them.rather punt with the bookies on fixed odds on rugby with no tax on sports bets.
