Geepers, is that a recent photo? He doensn't look sixty. That flitch of grey hair above the ears just makes him look mature and distinguished. You guys love posting pics of beautiful women, with or without horses ... thanx Titch for putting up a pic of a handsome man for the ladies to admire, LOL!

One of the best S.A. has produced in commentators. Others have imitated his style of call. To think we had him here in KZN, perhaps should be invited to commentate on July Day or the Int. Jockeys Test.

C'mon powers that be , owner of the month etc can be flown in why not bring back Trevor for old times sake?

Did Lester Piggott ride Swan Prince? Not forgetting the Malster, who did that commentary.

Lester Piggot it was as Swan Prince was something special BUT his career ended abruptly. With regard to The Malster - maybe the starter will remember lol as he got a verbal barrage..................

According to an article in Sporting Post in July, Ernie Duffield called his last July in 1976. Trevor Denman succeeded Ernie as commentator so it would seem that Trevor called the races you mention Dave.

The Malster was ridden by Lester Piggot and I think mention is made in Fred Rickaby's book about this race. Apparently the horse lost a dozen odd lengths and came from a hopeless position to win the race. Lester is on record as referring to the Scottsville track as a " pony track ".

LP also picked up a fine for abusing the starter for not declaring a false start in the race that The Malster won...he was trained by JBK Cooper..

Not sure how good my memory is, but did The Malster not also run in a hurdles type race? He was left by about 30 lengths in the race mentioned above.
