RA Badges - What a Rip Off
12 years 8 months ago
I recently paid my annual subscription for the RA. When i paid i got 2 Parking Disks and two little stickers with the 2012/2013 date.
I thought cool they will send me the new badges at some stage. Nope you must take the old badge some how peel off the old date from the old badge and stick these really cheap ass looking stickers onto the badge.
For F sakes they do shit for owners 95% of the time and cant even be bothered to send new badges.
Get a clue how cheap and out of touch are u guys.

They have done this before! I am not a member for a good number of years, but I remember that they have done this. It just isn't worth the effort to be a member.

@ Avanza - Yes, being active on committees, I see the regular input from RA and the many things that they influence, for the good of Owners. The great embarrassment of the Escalators at Turff - RA have put their foot down, now new ones being installed, starting Oct. The Jockeys International would not happen without RA. The Elevation Room at Turff - at least there is ONE venue which is modern , refurbished etc. Next year's Stakes increase - without RA..... who knows ... would it have been less without RA ? I think so.
Also, the Industry Liaison Committee is a RA initiative, hosted and chaired by RA - there all aspects of Racing are addressed for the good of the Industry. The RA board, NHA representatives, Trainer representatives, Jockey representatives, PGL and their various depts attend, eg Rian Du Plessis (CEO),Vee Moodley (totes/betting), Patrick Davis (Racing), Clyde Basel (events), Alfie Little (On Course betting/ hospitality), Ken Rutherford (Tellytrack) etc. ALL attend this RA initiative and a hell of a lot is accomplished through this forum.
So, to me, RA is about a lot more than the badge. I am convinced that without their work, we would be a lot poorer as an Industry.

Thank you Louis I find the trouble is the lack of communications, if GOOD things are happening tell us?
I am sure Larry and his team are doing a good job but why not highlight it or promote it.
We ( a forum) get treated as a no go as far as any news, good or bad and maybe one day when the ( blinkers come off) as far as electronic media "up to date info 24/7" we will all be winners including racing.

I musy agree with Scotia about communicating achievements.
LouisG if all you posted is true why do RA members not know of these iniatitives.

We had problems in PE that were not being sorted out through the P channels and without the RA intervention through Larry nothing would have happened..
Now sorted and everyone a lot happier. We also have a Liason Committee that does very good work. ( backed by RA )
RA also gives a lot of support to The ECHorse Care Unit.

This thread brings good news and bad!
Why keep the positive aspects a secret??...........is it just a hangover of all the clandestine "confidentiality" issues.
You have to be suspicious of secret communication..........it becomes a bad habit leading to lack of accountability.
There is no chance of an honest industry at the coal face if it isn't honest within the establishment.
It would be interesting to know how much trust there is in the people that have a hand in running the show ..RA,NHA, "P" executives........................whose word,if any, would you take as gospel.
Lets identify them and start a positive vibe from there.
