if one goes to any other sporting event or concert there is always various memoribilia you can buy, shirts caps books etc etc, why do we not have these shops on our race courses. Horse racing books on south african racing are very scarse, it would be great to have a t shirt with your horse that you own colours on it, like the jockey colours printed in the race card but on your shirt, books about our top horses, caps with your favourite horses name on it, all these things would boost and market racing, you could make flags with your horse colours and all this would add to the atmosphere and spirit at the racecourse. Right now the only thing we can buy is a computaform, for those who love the game surely these shops would be supported and if i had the right backing i would really consider opening or to travel to meetings with all these items as it would boost the marketing aspect of racing in south africa. Imagine how many jackson t shirts or flags, one could have sold on july day? Once again a gap in the horse racing market needs to be filled as us true racing fans want to support our horses just as we do our football teams and the springboks. I mean surely we should have a shop selling these items on every race course especially on big days, just something i was pondering about.

Better to sell them in the Totes, more traffic than Racecourse which only see the numbers on the big meetings.Doubt too many punters interested more in stuff other than exotics and quartets?

I understand what you are saying but these add ons would boost the race goers experience and can get more involved and create atmosphere at the course by generating hype around big horses.

WEST, you don't even get 100 owners to go out to the vaal midweek.......... you gonna sell absolutely nothing there. Big T is not much better on a SAT....... & the majority of owners at T don't venture much out of their private suites, unless to go to the ring before a race.

a nice idea, but just won't take off in Joburg - it probably would have had a chance at the OLD NIGHT MEETINGS AT NEWMARKET - but that is history now.
