I have no idea what the new whip is like. Would appear to be a type of "pool noodle"? If there were welts, I think it would be cause for concern...however it looked to me that he just kept the rhythm going and was not punishing.

Observer if you take the time to look before you jump you will see that the winner was trained in Kim and has never raced for the Shams and then watch the race where the fav got beat and you will see just how much trouble it got into...and what has that got to do with this thread???

The whips that jockeys are now using are the specially designed ‘pro-crush’ whips, made with soft leather and padded to avoid hurting and distressing the horse.

@ Titch are all jocks using the new style whips?
Are they regulated to do so?

@PK
As stated before, hitting 2 in a row is not against the rules and he definately didn't hit the horse every stride because he showed the whip 1st.
Are you upset with the reasoning or with the fact that no-one else supports your viewpoint???
Please watch the Met that Horse Chestnut won
Trainer and jock wanted to show how good the horse was and also didn't want him loafing for his future races against the Worlds best
If ever there is interest in a particular ride, the stipes welcome enquiries from "real" people who don't hide behind alias'
Have you viewed the Stipes report from the meeting on NHRA website?

Fallon is actually not that hard with the whip although his action makes it look much harder. One of the kinder jocks to horses.
Instead of shouting or clicking at his horse in a race, he whistles to get them to run faster...
The louder the whistle, the faster he is coming at you.

Kom nou mense, ek ken vir PK and I think he has an absolute passion for this game. Nie hodig om persoonlik te raak nie. I have also noticed some 'abuse' towards my favourite animals in the past, but according to all the pro's on this site, it;s ok....so who the hell cares for the rest of us.....not being jocks or trainers or etc....you have the rules & regulations. I have not seen this race and is not interested in watching it. Stripe reports suck in SA.

you can always see a jockey who is an outstanding horseman compared to a jockey who is not a horsemans aas...go and pull out all the fines the nhra has given to jocks for excessive use of the stick then come talk on here....certain names will appear over and over but the real greats will hardly have any....for the great riders the stick will be the last resort as the majority of horses will try with or without and flashing the stick or giving them one or 2 is all they need ....striker strydom andrew fortune are shining examples of horsemanship...
