Van Persie joins Man United
12 years 9 months ago
It's just been announced that Arsenal and Man United have agreed a 22 million pound fee for the transfer of Robin Van Persie. The guy's class but I just don't see why Fergie would want him when he has Wellbeck and Chicharito at his disposal. Any thoughts or comments ?

Fergie just wasted his money. RVP is not worth that price. He might go down as the worst manu buy of all time.

Great buy for them but he's injury prone. He spent 8 seasons at Arsenal and last season was his only that he was not injured.

All the talk here is about Man U. What about some credit of Wegner's shrewd selling of the over rated Van Persie. He is not an upcoming younster but a WYSIWYG player. He was not the STAR player at Arsenal untill recently, just watch the YOUNSTERS perform this season for Arsenal.
Well done Wegner for selling a player that is nearing the end of his career. It is of because of these decisions in selling TOP players that Arsenal are one of the very few Clubs, if not the only the top club, that ARE NOT in massive debt. Just wait and see what happens when these crazy prices and Pay Cheques IMPLODE, which is going to happen sooner that later.
Always for the underdog, go for it Arsenal and continue to play the BEAUTIFUL brand of football that you are famious for.

LOL ! Wegner didn't want to sell him, he wanted to leave. £80k compared to £225k . This is not about Arsenal/Wegner, this is about money. Nasri,Clichy,Toure,Adebayor and Fabregas all left, and coining it, why would you want to stay at a trophyless club and earn peanuts?

Hi Neon
I concur with you wrt all the players leaving Arsenal and that they are Trophyless. Sure Wegner would of wanted to retain these players but the scale of the economics and his financial vision made him decide to let them go. This was for the long term advantage of Arsenal, unlike other Clubs that spend major bucks to win a trophy.
Yes these players are earning bigger bucks at other clubs, but these clubs are NOT financially sound. Good luck to these players for enriching themselves but this situation is not financially viable.
My point is that Arsenal are financially STRONG, unlike ManU, Man C, Barco, RM and many others that are in dire straights because of astronomical debts. The interest alone on these debts cannot be met in the medium term and it is escalating to such an extent that FAMOUS clubs will fold, maybe sooner than later.
Due to the financial foresight of Wegner and Arsenal they have positioned themselves to survive the IMPLOSION. IF my prognosis is correct just watch Arsenal be the team of the near FUTURE.
This is only my observation. I have been a Spurs fan ever since they toured South Africa with players of the ilk of Danny Blanchflower, Jimmy Greaves, etc. now that was a great team.
