Both War Horse and Black Toga are class acts and the race is going to be very very interesting. I have Love Struck running in the same race and based on his run on July day from a 18 draw to finish 3 lengths off War Horse was exceptional. That was his first run as a gelding. On Gold Cup day we have draw 1. We know how good this horse is and like I said in my previous posts we should have never run him over 1200 after his maiden win. He is a big runner on the day and we are confident.
I see that Hollywoods Magic Lipps tips Love Struck to win the race
-D
In the feature in JHB in April, Love Struck lost 3 lengths at the start over 1200 by ran on to finish 7th behind Soft Falling Rain. War Horse finish 10th on that day.
So I do not think that this is a two horse race
I will be happy with a top 3 finish but to win would be a dream
Cheers

magic lipps left winning forn 3 mths ago....war horse won very well last time on july day however those behind him were less than impressive..in fact the maiden blushing peter who ran 9th 4.25 lengths of war horse came out next time in a maiden plate and barely held on for a very poor 3rd...the problem with this race and its female equal is that its run over 1600 metres at greyville where the draw is of utmost importance whereby it used to be run at clairwood where the draw over a mile is much less importance...its a fcuking disgrace to have the 2 group ones for 2yos at greyville on july day and then follow up 3 weeks later for 2yos back at greyville....the same applies to have the july at greyville and then the 1800m champions cup back at greyville for the same horses.........it is well known that the best horse doesnt always win at greyville but at clairwood there are no excuses and the best horse will win...then again with the people who run the game in gold circus natal im not surprized at the change that was done 2 years ago

By David Thiselton
Duncan Howells described his two-year-old Mogok colt King Of Torts as a “very good horse”, who deserved his place in the Grade 1 Premier’s Champion Stakes field on Super Saturday at Greyville this weekend.
“He is very well and has improved since his last run,” he said.
In his last start he pulverised a Maiden Juvenile Plate field over 1600m at Scottsville by 6,75 lengths.
The second horse, Jamal, came out after that race and ran a fair third in a competitive Maiden Juvenile Plate over a probably too sharp 1200m.
In his penultimate start King Of Torts was beaten 1,75 lengths over the Scottsville 1600m by another Premier’s candidate Act Fast.
However, Howells was confident he could reverse that form.
“He had hardly done anything before that race,” he said.
He continued, “It will be a hard task for him, but it will be a challenge. It’s difficult to tell who is good and who isn’t good at this stage but I think he is right up there with them. The one negative is that he is still mentally quite immature. He is the type of horse that will be better as a three-year-old and four-year-old. But he deserves his place in the race and we will see what he does.”
Howells has a fine recent record at this meeting having won the Grade 1 Thekwini Stakes with Gypsy’s Warning in 2008 and last year he finished third in the Ladbrokes Gold Cup with Knight To Remember and second in the Thekwini with Felix The Cat.

Very poor field. The worst in a long time.
Dont have to be special to win here
