Sheza, I can't remember Antons exact words but he did speak about Vettel having a big chance in the Gold Cup and that he was pleased with his run in the July, I think this was in his interview after he won on The Princess. I also have a lot of respect for Feel my Love

May I please ask the clanners to shed some light on their reasoning behind their fancies for the GOLD CUP in respect of form because right now stats all point to Gorongosa and we know that based on recent results that means almost anything!
maybe we can all find the winner by sharing our opinions on prep runs/dist/opinions of trainers etc.
btw for the benefit of this tread , Money slowly coming in for Kolkata
17 G KOLKATA 8/1 13/2
cheers

picked this up from the MDK website....ineteresting comment by Kevin Shea :
Gorongosa, five in a row
June 18, 2012 By admin Leave a Comment
GORONGOSA (headline photo), the five-year-old mare by Montjeu, raced to her fifth successive victory in the Father’s Day Pinnacle Stakes over 2800m at Clairwood on Sunday.
Mary Slack’s runner again stamped herself as a Gold Cup candidate by drawing away in the closing stages for a decisive win and jockey Kevin Shea quipped: “She stays like an old mother-in-law. She won the way I expected her to win.”
now we can assume that she will have plenty in the tank!

My feel on Kolkata is that he ran a great race last year beaten by his stable companion, this year he is prepared for this race and will have striker on comes in with a good weight and draw. He is now a 4 year old and with past results horses seems to run to form when they run the gold cup again.

hi Clan, i have done a lil studying for this race and i have come up with this..
formlines i have looked at show me that Kolkatta and Princess of Light and Gorongosa look the possible 3 from past formlines, and i feel the Princess of Light could be the biggest danger to Gorongosa.
With this said, Blake cant be ignored, nor can we ignore In Writing.
and the wild card for the quartet i will add in Aslan...
So thats my 6

Jeppe's Reef must have a good place chance, never far behind winner and carry no weight.
I will have my money on SEAL, he has 5 runs over 2400m and further for one 2nd place and four wins and showed in the gold vase that he can win with weight on his back.
