The old horses don't want to race anymore. When I took Tommy Hotspur to Turffontein in Feb 2007, to lead the parade for the Tommy Hotspur Sprint Handicap, he was extremely upset and uneasy. I actually cut the parade short. Poor chap. He was 16 at the time. I felt like I'd let the old chap down. He lives very happily on my friend's farm, completely retired at 21. These old gentleman need to be looked after and revered, and not put under any pressure! Respect to the "old boys"!
