Some quick thoughts before I'm heading out to the 'States':

R2: Depends on whether The Angelus handles the sand, if not, it's pretty open imo - Cracker Doba stamina douts imo, and Atalaya also tries the sand for the first time
R3: Maybe Baby overdue and gets a good draw and Striker - some stamina doubts though imo - which may bring Bridgewater into the race
R4: Open fillies and mares handicap - Glamazon badly in with Hockus on their last run, but that was on the turf, so comes in with a chance here imo, Alamein obvious chance again
R5: Mr Tobin no value imo, struggeld to get going over 1600 lat time and now goes over a shorter trip, I think Follow the Piper is the right one over this 1450, with Mr Premier maybe 2nd best
R6: Laurel Canyon back in a handicap - only slight concern is that this is her 3rd run in less than a month, but I do fancy her today - I make the danger the stable companion Ugly Betty, who is better than her last run, I'm taking a chance by banking the coupling in the P6
R7: Mannequin looks the right one to me and watch out for a better run from Secret Life
R8: Silver Specialist no value imo, runs on from behind and may have some trouble in a big field, The Western will be out on front and looks good value at current odds, Berrymiller runs on over shorter, but like SS may struggel to find a clear run from a wide draw

Enjoy (tu)

"So You Think" misses Eclipse on Saturday !

***FARHH ( now the fav.) will face stiff opposition from "red-hot" John Gosden's NATHANIEL (if race fit).

RACE 3
Maybe Baby 79, Ad Kahn 72, Bridgewater 66, Master of Hounds 60
RACE 4
Alamein 91, First to Finish 91, Glamazon 91, Phi 90
RACE 5
Mr.Tobin 116, Mr. Premier 110, Sayadaw 105, Tilman 104
RACE 6
Ugly Betty 103, Mexican Glory 98, Legal Account 95, Laurel Canyon 92

The last time Silver Specialist was my top rated selection was on the 1stFeb’11-hope the outcome is the same. Also good luck to Frodo / Laurel Canyon, seems a big ask on current form yet can be there on best form.

Value selections primarily for quartets and PA’s –

R1…Cold Approach 8/10
R2…Cerise Silk 14/1
R3…Ad Kahn 14/1
R4…Glamazon 10/1
R5…Mr. Premier 11/2
R6…Ugly Betty 9/2
R7…Mannequin 5/2
R8…The Western 11/2

Not sure about today’s race card, a VS race day without any L.J. Erasmus runners, some small fields and the smallest number of runners on the day for a long time plus the fact that first time sand runners have done better than usual over the last few months, then of course the contrary draw results…either gonna be a favourites day throughout or lots of unfathomable surprises.

Trainer/s to follow today – P.F. Matchett
Both R.R. Magner and S.T. Pettigrew show good form on the Vaal sand, and have some fancied runners today. However, think they may be better in the ‘places’ today.
