Even though i like Teetan and Jackson the draw puts me off. This race reminds me of that race when Pocket Power was last turning into the straight.....

...imvho the price is not worth the risk.

Keniza, dont despair, have faith. Jackson's draw will be 16 come race day with the eventual withdrawals of the reserve runners. From that draw, it will be more difficult to get ambushed...

The Jocks thoughts on Jackson:-
Karis Teetan is optimistic that he can overcome the considerable problems posed by hot favourite Jackson’s number 18 draw in the Vodacom Durban July on Saturday week.
He said: “We were a little disappointed by the draw – it would have been better if we were in the first ten – but I am not too worried.
“There is not that much speed on my inside and many of the best horses are drawn towards the outer. Jackson has a lot of speed away from the gate, you can ride him from anywhere and you go 600-700m before you start to turn.
“Brett Crawford and I still have to sit down and discuss tactics but I will do what I always do and that is ride him with confidence.
“This is my fourth July ride so I have the necessary experience and I know that I am on the best horse in the race.”
The 22-year-old Mauritian, who has ridden over 100 winners this season, has been studying Anton Marcus.
The three times champion is the jockey who, more than any other, is able to make light of a bad draw in big races.
Teetan said: “Anton is very good at the gate. He bounces his horses out, often straight to the front.”
Marcus, bidding for a history-making fifth July win, rides Vettel who is well drawn at nine and has been backed from 20-1 to 15-2 joint second favourite (with stable companion Ilha Bela) in the last week.
Jackson has remained firm at 18-10 despite his bad draw.
The favourite has a theoretical two kilos in hand (roughly two and a half lengths), thanks to the 57kg ceiling for three-year-olds, but he stands to lose far more than that if Teetan is unable to get him in – or is shuffled back – by the time the field reaches the start of the long horseshoe bend taking them from the back straight to the straight.
Not since Jackson’s sire Dynasty won from stall 20 in 2003 has the winner been drawn higher than 13.
Give everything but up!

Gorongosa been super impressive and should pulverize this field, only problem it could be a bit short so maybe decrook should take it straight to the outside rail from the start and it will be more like a 3000m race and therefore should come home lonely-maybe he couls swop draws with Jackson

The only way I can see Jackson getting beat is if he cant get over from the draw, is shuffled to the back of the pack and theres no pace. Crawford might have an ace up his sleeve though, maybe Polar Bound to bounce out of his good draw to set the pace?
