Shrek ironically the draw could work in Jackson's favor rather wide and no interference than suffer the fate of PJ and others that were "well drawn" last year...

Truthfully, hungriest jockey riding for MDK has got to be Delpech, he is trying for his third consecutive win. Anyone know whether this has been achieved before? If this feat has never been achieved before, then here's a jockey who will be giving it his all to create history.
Guessing has never been widely acclaimed as a good gambling strategy.

Spare a thought for Zietsmann, he wagered his house on Tribal Dance. Now he's probably out on the street!
Take heart and get it all back from that bookie in the Derby.

From Gill Simpkins at 4am this morning boy she works hard....

Vodacom Durban July favourite Jackson has drawn near the outside of the 20-horse field that will face the starter at the 2 200m mark at Greyville Racecourse for Africa’s Greatest Horseracing Even on Saturday, July 7.

Drawn by his trainer Brett Crawford, the classy three-year-old son of Dynasty will have to emulate his famous father by winning the race from the wide draw which at this stage is 18 but could come in two places if the two reserve runners, Seal and Bulsara, come out next Tuesday

.

The announcement of the final field, made at a Greyville function where the draw was also conducted, saw a number of the more fancied runners drawing badly but while Crawford was visibly disappointed with the draw for Jackson, his other runner in the race Polar Bound did a lot better at three.

Pierre Jourdan, Tales Of Bravery, Castlethorpe, Top Seller, Solo Traveller, Pomodoro and Ilha Bela filled all the outside draws but for Sean Tarry there was some good news to overcome the 22 draw of Pomodoro when Whiteline Fever and Gold Onyx drew one and two respectively.

For Mike Bass things were not too bad as English Garden drew 10 and Chesalon 12. Castlethorpe at 20 draw has a major task particularly as the handicapper raised his rating after he finished second to Variety Club in the Rising Sun Gold Challenge which has resulted in the Australian-bred gelding having to carry second top weight of 59.5kg just 0.5kg less that top weight Pierre Jourdan on 60kg.

For Mike de Kock, while his star filly Ilha Bela drew badly at 21, his other two three-year-olds Gorongosa and Vettel, that will each carry a handy galloping weight of 53.5kg, drew seven and nine respectively and Vettel in particular is now considered one of the potential winners with bookmakers cutting his odds now to 7-1.

In interviews after the draw, trainers commented on their runners with Gary Alexander saying in spite of Pierre Jourdan carrying top weight and being drawn at 15, he was still confident that the Parade Leader gelding was still in with a good winning chance. He had come on well since his third in the Rising Sun Gold Challenge and he would be spot on for the big race.

Mike Bass said that taking the draws and weights into consideration, he felt that English Garden from 10 draw was probably the one of his three runners with the best chance of winning and Vaughan Marshall said that Top Seller could prove the best of his pair in spite of his wide draw as he was not completely sure that the hard-knocker Tales Of Bravery would actually see the 2 200m out.

De Kock gave little away in his interview but pressed on which of his four runners he felt could have the best chance, he said it was the versatile filly Ilha Bela.

The new kid on the block, so to speak, Eton Square from the Gavin van Zyl yard, was a surprise inclusion but his trainer was very bullish about the Miesque’s Approval gelding making it into the frame. He rated him better than the two reserve runners Seal and Bulsara that had featured in major races in their careers with Seal having won the SA Derby at Turffontein last year.

The gelding, drawn at six and set to shoulder bottom weight of 53kg, won the Jubilee Handicap at Turffontein to get into the race. However, Van Zyl, along with a number of other trainers at the function, felt that Jackson was still the horse to beat in what really has the makings of a fantastic race where the quartet could pay thousands.

Gorongosa is 5 and for me has the best chance for the Mdk yard

Titch's list above mistakenly leaves out Top Seller.
Jackson is the class act in this field, and his poor draw is offset by the fact that most of those that can give him a go are also drawn wide. Provided there is a proper pace on, he is the one for me.
