I think Jackson is a worthy favourite and is priced accordingly ( still too short though )
Ilha Bela on the other hand is not a justifiable favourite in my opinion notwithstanding the win over 2450m at Turffontein.
It appears that the bookies have priced Ilha Bela as favourite on the basis of Mr De Kocks record at Greyville, his record in the July and the fact that they have stuck with Anton Marcus who has good strike rate at Greyville

Any thoughts !

For me the two races are very different. The Woolavington the horses all have similar merit ratings and none have a massively high merit rating. The Daily News however has one horse rated well clear of the rest of the field with a big merit rating. In the Woolavington all the horses can race as hard as they like without being penalized too badly for a win unless winning by a street. Pomodoro and Royal Bencher with a second and third will get into the July as after their Derby wins are well into the top 20. So do Pomodora and Royal Bencher want to run close or beat Jackson if they feel they have a reasonable chance in the July and I can't see anyone else in the race challenging Jackson so even at restricted odds is a good bet. The filly's race is more interesting as the winner would still come into the July carrying a low weight and Bambina Stripes or others in the field could get supplemented into the July if need be. I am expecting a very exciting finish in the Woolavington and would definately include a few in the Pick 6.

Jackson has good Cape form winning by 2 in both so is distance suited. Last outing my local track and ran 2 behind on a 16 that appears a prep for this 1. Is 1 from pole, Teetan's riding well off a 116 top Merit Rating, what's not to like at 4/10? Only the betting! I wouldn't play it! No value for money, but might win by 2 lengths.

Looking at the last 3 finishes only Whiteline Fever is dist suited but crashed in 2nd last. Improved by 9 lengths last time. It might go very close with another! Tarry can win a big race, he's got Master of Masters Marcus but only a misshap by Jackson at 16 points heigher in the Merits will let him go close with another. It's a steal at 12/1.

The elusive other one that gives me shivers at 14/1 is the nice sounding Master Plan. It parralels Jackson's last 2 Cape starts although over shorter, but proved he could make it past middle distance with a 1.5 loss on a 19. The only worry is the finishing speed and include Whiteline Fever there too! I don't know how Ennion is performing but Hatt needs no introduction. Has an average 99 Merit points and could Fight it out for second with Whiteline Fever.

My prediction: Jackson by 2! And if he fails? A fight to the finish between Whiteline Fever and Master Plan. O, wouldn't it be great! I LOVE THIS GAME!

BY, think we've kinda been here before ;) For me, its not that Jackson is a bad price, I think it should win, even think it will win and in some style too but... its not value because overall I think it pays to back against shorties in SA, yes some will win of course but most seem to get spanked, I just don't trust them. If you can find the right ones to beat them, just occasionally, then I believe it pays much better backing against them in the long run. Even Absa surely give you a little return on your investment over a year. You go to the ATM, I'll raid my piggy bank :)
