If you not racing for money is jhb worth it? Imo all the trophies worth winning for bragging rights is on the east n west coast

To be fair, it's well known you train at altitude and drop to compete. The other way around is always a concern, just one extra hurdle.
I think JHB could be firmer on the whole than the coasts. De Kock basically said in his opinion horses are often not given sufficient time to handle big surface changes.
Also, horses train up physically lighter at altitude, and tend to carry a little less weight where there is a bit less air. An extra 10 or 20kg could easily cost a water fat horse at altitude. It should be something to think about, especially for Cape horses travelling far and up hill.
