Black Caviar headlines overseas Ascot entries

BY TOM KERR 10:28AM 25 APR 2012

BLACK CAVIAR, the unbeaten queen of Australian racing, was on Wednesday the star name among international Royal Ascot entries hailing from 11 countries.

The brilliant racemare is joined by some of the leading names from Australian racing, including the nation's top active sprinters Foxwedge and Temple Of Boom, and even the nation's champion miler More Joyous, although her owner John Singleton recently poured cold water on the idea of running at Royal Ascot.

Among the overseas entries are several to have seen British soil previously, including Hungarian sprinter Overdose, Hong Kong's Xtension, formerly of Clive Cox's, and Master Of Hounds, now at Mike de Kock's in South Africa but once of Ballydoyle.

From the USA, the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf winner Stephanie's Kitten could feature in the Coronation Stakes, and France's Champion Stakes winner Cirrus Des Aigles isin the Prince Of Wales's Stakes.

Japan could be represented in the Diamond Jubilee by their sprint champion Curren Chan while the Bahrain-trained Krypton Factor, winner of the Dubai Golden Shaheen, could lie in wait in the same race.

Charles Barnett, Ascot's chief executive, said:  "Once again we are delighted to see such a wide range of entries from around the world, headlined of course by Frankel for the home team and Black Caviar from Australia.

"The star names don’t end there, however, and include the Japanese sprint champion Curren Chan, the Australian mile champion More Joyous, some fascinating names from the United States, a particularly numerically strong Hong Kong entry and the best from all over Europe."
