He has received a one-week licence to ride at Kranji from April 23 to 29 and will later be licensed for six months from June 1 to November 30.

The 53-year-old has been booked by trainer Patrick Shaw to ride champion sprinter Rocket Man in the G1 Lion City Cup on April 29.

Coetzee won two two International G1 races on Rocket Man last year in the the Dubai Golden Shaheen and the KrisFlyer International Sprint at Kranji.

Coetzee boasts an impressive record of over 3000 winners in a career spanning 37 years, mainly his native South Africa and Hong Kong where he is best remembered for his association with another champion sprinter Silent Witness.

Some of the biggest wins claimed by the three-time South African champion jockey on his home turf include three July Handicaps, a record-equalling seven Gold Cups and the J&B Met five times.

In 1992, he accepted an offer to ride in Hong Kong where his career highlights include two Hong Kong Sprints with Silent Witness, whom he also rode to success in Japan's Sprinters Stakes (2005).
Coetzee left Hong Kong in 2008 to return to South Africa.
