It's a great machine (but the last time I flew to Paris on one we left 11 hours late from Jozi because the on-board computer had packed up on the inbound flight and they'd had to return to Paree for repairs. Sh!t happens even to the best contraptions.

And on the return trip we left one hour late because they were struggling to load the luggage.:S It must have some teething problems, but it is a fine plane when it works properly. And one of the benefits of leaving Jozi at 6.30 am was that we flew over the length of Africa in broad daylight for a change. It was worth getting out of bed at some ungodly hour just for a good look at the Sahara,.

Magic that must have been great - I flew in darkness all the way. When I got here it was just starting to light up. Back I leave 23:30 so most of the flight in darkness again - and I battle to sleep on a plane.

The only drawback to flying at that hour is that OR Tambo's duty free shops were all closed.
Cost me a fortune in ciggies in Europe. It was an awesome experience in daylight, I must say. I also battle to sleep on planes and I passed the time playing countless rounds of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire on the entertainment system. I think Air France owes me about two million Euros.
< That 23.30 return flight is the pits to wait for, though. It's one of the very last flights out for the day and Charles de Gaulle is almost a ghost town by then, but at least you get to Joburg at a civilised hour.
The Airbus' forward facing tail-mounted camera is a cool touch, too, I thought.

Lol Magic - I also played Who wants to be a Millionaire! Tried all cameras but only tail one works - could only see take off and landing but in daytime should be fun! Charles de Gaulle is a massive mess - alhough I found one or two very helpfull. Must say the French have changed since I was here previously - English much more accepted athough the Euro hurts us poor South Africans! But then one should not buy the new iPad!
