Problem is 88 meets(i think) over 53 weeks...so impossible to race every wed/sat(sun).....so if anyone else can come up with a solution please post here!Bigger tote turnover means bigger stakes pot to hold more races without lower stakes...common sense or what?

The progamme was set out during 2011.....the new programme will hopefully not have those glaring errors!....Also remember one has to look at the overall racing programme for the country and cannot just look at it course for course.....cape's first choice is to race sat and wed....last year we raced tues....that's history .
And Batman...Rome wasn't built in a year......

A friend asked me to look up some figures regarding the number of runners in CT.

I found that of the top 10 yards by number of individual horses that have run in CT this season,
that 794 horses have run 3353 times.

That's 4.2 runs per horse Aug-Mar

Although smaller yards raced horses slightly more often, their small numbers did not have much off an upward effect.

So the whole population including visitors is 1289 horses who = 5545 runs.

That's 4.3 runs per horse in almost 8 months.

With one more meeting in CT to go, it's probably accurate to estimate that
R5500 x 8 months / 4.3 runs = R10K per run.

Total earning was R38,603,490
30K a runner
That's a small loss of only R1756 per month on average, which isn't to bad for a top end hobby?

Those figures don't look so good for small owners.
Let's assume that you race for the fun,so you accept the loss of R1756 per month .......the problem is there is not much fun in 6 runs per annum(at approx 10 mins in total),and is therefore a loss of R3512 per RUN.

Imagine the fun if your horse is below average?
