LADBROKES
13 years 5 months ago
These so called "big Bookmakers" that come to South Africa from the UK are not worth two bob. I recently opened an account with Ladbrokes. After having numerous losing bets with them I suddenly hit a purple patch of winning bets. I had paid them over a 100 K and as soon as I won the money back their so called traders cut my account to R500 (40 Sterling) on a horse. They did not even have the decency to email and inform me about the change in limits. Sites like Bettingworld, Fouries Sporting Club and Hollywood at least set you 10K of a horse, not these so called BIG BOYS, back a few winners with Ladbrokes or any of these UK bookmakers sites and get your wagering limit cut to shreds. As long as you are backing losers you can fire. Making a deposit there is no problem with a limit but when it comes to withdrawing the money they have a maximum daily limit. Obviously if you play on their Casino site you will never have your limit cut, I wonder why ???
The Ladbrokes operation in South africa does not use the same data download as the SA Bookmakers. If a horse shortens or is claimed they will still have the old price with a stretch. One example was Silent Approach at Turfontein on 17 December 2011. The horse was claimed into 16/10 and they still had 33/10 ??? Talk about dangling the carrot
I am glad to see Ladbrokes is sponsoring the Gold Cup. If decide not to stay please don't cancel the sponsorship.
May I suggest that you come in line with most of the South African websites and offer the same as they do. Let a person know his/her limit from the start and you won't have any of these problems.
" If you can't take the heat stay out of South Africa".

Hey Hitman
Ditto - I spent R115000 odd rand with them in 3 months. Was down R49500 - got back a bit to R2500 down and LADBROKES cut my max bet to R550 on any horse (unless below 2/1 then I could get up to a R1000 on). Since then I have won some bets and am now up R4211.8. My max is now R220 on a horse. I mean really. But you'r right - no comment, message, e-mail or phone call. As for my first withdrawal - that was like pulling teeth.
Such a pity - big boys. don't like paying anyone. Local bookmakers have paid with no hassle and actually communicate your limits. And stick to them.
Don't try phone the care centre - I get "sorry but we cannot help with that". I ask for the "traders" e-mail and get told sorry they are not to be contacted. Come now Ladbrokes - spend some time with local bookies. You guys are way behind.
Cheers

Hitman don't feel lonely
It happened to me as well, for two weeks I thought I was in heaven with the prices I was getting. If they pulled the information from the same source as the rest of the SA Bookies they would not have had a problem as the horses would have been SP'd as soon as they were claimed . Imagine being a fly on the wall in their CT office with the manager watched helplessly as the liability increased on a backed horse on his computer screen. The same happened to me with Sportingbet and Victor Chandler.

There are worse,beleive me.
Bet 365 let me win a maximum £10 on any bet...
William Hills refer all my bets to the trading department.
Stan James let me win £100 maximum
Paddy Power have limited all my bets.
these are not bookmakers in my mind, they are accountants

I attend to Agree with Hitman when it comes to Casino part of these sites, I will take a short price that they never reduce the wagering limit of a online casino player, thats like taking candy from children

If you are opening up new accounts just to plunder the prices, you will get restricted.
ladbrokes let me have £400 win on Walkabout Creek at 7/4 and that was early, probably could have had more on if i wanted it

All that is being suggested is that when you open an account on a website you need to know your limit from the start. Most websites in SA will lay you 10K of a straight bet and 30 K of a multiple. If they decide to reduce your limit they will reduce it to 5 K and 15 K of a multiple.
There is nothing more frustrating when you click an amount and your are told the you limit liability has been exceeded, you then reduce the amount and get the same message and the site carries on doing so until you get to the amount you are allowed to put on.
