Currie Cup Alert : Weather Change!

Punters seeking value might be well advised to re-visit the Currie Cup long term betting as there has been a significant change in the 'weather'.

The early elimination of the Springboks from RWC has resulted in players becoming available for the last rounds of the Currie Cup. The two major beneficiaries appear to be WP and the Sharks.

For the Bulls this development would seem to come too late as they were, to all intents and purposes, laid to rest by Griquas last weekend. In any event - many of their 'stars' are returning to the old age home rather than the playing fields of Pretoria.

These developments do not bode well for the Lions; who have led the contest virtually from the get go.

But for punters there is plenty to consider and possibly profit from!

The Sharks with the additional players should go close to winning the comp. There are other factors that will also play a part, like how motivated will the Bok players be after their heartbreaking exit from the world cup. Also the teams have played together as a unit for 13 weeks so bringing in numerous new players may disrupt the flow in the team.
Having the Boks back could act as a double edged sword but we will wait and see.

One game this weekend I do think there will be excellent value will be the Sharks / Lions game. Sharks need to win with 5 points or the Cheetahs could leapfrog them into a home semi and the Lions have nothing to play for they are top and will stay top regardless of what happens. Sharks to win should be a good bet this weekend.

PeeKay I found handicap betting the average for this weekend's games are:
Bulls -28,5 Leopards +28,5
Cheetahs -16,5 Griquas +16,5
W Prov -27,5 Pumas +27,5
Sharks -9,5 Lions +9,5

I was hoping the Sharks game would have been a bit lower. The value for the weekend and the game I will go big on on Puma's at +27,5 even though Province have a few of their Boks back they haven't looked good of late and the Pumas have had a late resurgence by beating Griquas in their back yard, ask the Bulls it is not easy to do, and running the Cheetahs close last weekend. They should keep Province under 27,5.
