Turffontein Race 4 Sat 03/09 Wrong Result Declared

On Saturday Clyde Basel called Pearl Rush for 4th but when the Result and Dividends was declared I had seen Greylami had been deemed to run 4th. I was bamboozled has Clyde Basel rarely makes an error. So here I thought I had lost the Quartet I had taken. To my surprise when I checked my balance on Sunday I had seen my balance gone up on Hollywood and I new for sure the 4th race result had changed and so it it had. What happens to the Punters with no Telebet or bookmakers accounts who threw their tickets away when the incorrect result was declared. How do they get credited back. Its a total mockery.

Sorry I see it's posted as 9,2,1,4 - could have sworn the 11 ran 4th - anyway Magic Smoke could be something special - and watch out for Greylaami next time over ground

Saturdays scenario is an interesting one.Under the rules of the jockey club rule 65.8 which pertains to the Judge and Photo-Finish states:

65.8 Should it be proved after the ALL CLEAR has been announced that there was
an error in the placings declared by the judge, such error shall be corrected for
statistical purposes. Where such correction affects stake money such money
shall be returned to the RACING OPERATOR for re-distribution.

I watched this result very carefully as I had place bets(4 places) on Greylaami,and although I knew that it hadn't finished 4th after watching the replay this whole scenario was very interesting to say the least.As Naresh says,the result was definitely posted as 9,2,1,4.

This result then went from provisional to ALL CLEAR on the tabgold website.Bookmaker's paid out the result as if the 4 had run 4th.Then about 20 minutes later the result on tabgold got changed.Bookmaker's reversed the result and on we went.

Whilst I don't feel aggrieved in any way as I clearly should not have been a winner to start with,I do find it intriguing as to how this whole thing was dealt with.It was quite a big swing to me,so I had tellytrack up to hear if anything was mentioned on it.NOT A WORD!Surely if the incorrect result had been posted and then corrected punters should have been informed.

I have subsequently checked the stipes report,which says nothing about this incident.Is it their responsibility to mention it?

The all clear had clearly been given,and for quite some time before the result was then changed to the correct result,but are they allowed to do that.It clearly states in the jockey club rules that the result needs to be amended FOR STATISTICAL PURPOSES.

The way that such instances are being dealt with is clearly unacceptable.Whilst I clearly had no right to win on this race and accept it as such,the manner in which such matters get dealt with really has to be looked at.

So did anyone here back Greylaami for a place on a tote account - if so, dit you receive the payout and was it then reversed?

i see on the RA website the original result still shows........(td)

Of course there were, silly me - so did any bookmakers pay out on 4th place before the result was corrected (and just accepted the fact that they have now paid out some guys on a wrong result?)
