Forum closures

Apart from ABC, another forum I sometimes posted on was a Scrabble forum (Facebook). It has just been closed ... not just a thread, but the whole forum has been shut down. Why? Because of a few individuals who were indulging their sick selves by bullying, mudslinging and general nastiness.

LOL! Sly ... I know that rolling-of-the-eyes feeling ... someone I know is a chess fanatic ... tried to teach me ... the operative word is "try". Mind you, I've tried to convert the same individual to horse racing with the same degree of (non)success.
Hibs I don't know who would have the right to close a Forum ... I'm not on it every day and when I went to it a couple of days ago the deed had been done. There was just a note on the Scrabble Wall giving reasons ... even that has vanished now. However, I know what they mean. There are some sickos out there. I've seen a few really bitchy attacks going down on some of the threads, bullying, highly overheated accusations of cheating, and targeted attacks on individuals.
One wonders what they are like to play against ... hope I never draw one of them.

Mavourneen were you a player on scrabulous and betapet (dnt worry folks that was a scrabble site lol). Im just curious cause lexulous has gone to also rans and its boring with 8 letters. Any site you recommend. I've registered with internet scrabble club 3 days ago but never had a chance to play cos the games were over 30mins and it was a too long wait for me. Btw internet scrabble is best played at 5 to 7 minutes per person playing, it cuts out the cheats unless you no your opposition.

(Don't see the PM button any more ... I know this should be off-forum but what can I do?) Naresh, no I never played Scrabulous or Betapet. You could try Facebook, there's a link for free Scrabble games on the left hand side. Doesn't cost anything, which is mega-good, imho! They just bomb you with boring ads. However I doubt you'd get games under 30 mins unless both of you played like crazy. They offer 2 mins/move and 5 mins and also longer games.
In approx 300 games I never encountered cheating myself until, oddly enough, last night, but some folk are paranoid and accuse anyone that beats them of cheating. Then they go - or used to go - onto the Forum threads and "warn" everyone so-and-so is a cheat. Since you can see people's real names (if Facebook names are real) this is ugly for everyone concerned, and runs a risk of legal comebacks.
