If this rain doesn't stop soon a better question may be, are we having a Gold Cup?
I think Gold Circle need to start considering a Plan B, just in case.

Magic, what would be the plan if it was run on Monday re: "August" would the season be extended by one day? I was thinking of the jockey championship? etc (

I don't think so, Dave. I could be wrong, but I reckon it would go into next season. In any case, I can't believe they would choose Monday for a meeting like this. Rather postpone lock, stock and barrel to the following Saturday. But that's just what I would do.
There are some signs that the weather might be lifting, by the way, but we are by no means out of the woods yet.

And according to weather-forecast.com it should stop raining at around midday today. Take your pick.

If the Gold Cup is moved to the new year it will not be included in this year’s season. Rgds Gill

A swap with Turffontein going to Saturday and the Gold Cup to Sunday is being considered if the course is not raceable on Saturday. No decision has yet been made, though.
