Weights are going to be the key factor in terms of the 3yr old colts - does winning the Daily News carry a penalty in terms of the July - if so then The Apache has probably scuppered his own chances - one interesting contender that did not show up in the Daily News (and wisely spotted by gregbucks) is Galileo's Destiny - I understand he is running in the Cup Trial come Saturday (a race which as far as I know does NOT carry penalties in terms of the July) with Perana - now if these two are going to receive weight from the other 3yr old colts in the July, both should certainly go close.

Regarding Igugu, hard to judge, it may be that she could be going over the top after a hard season, but she is trained by a master - it could also be that he did not have her fully tuned for yesterday and left something to work on for the July - and there is no real evidence (times are misleading imo) to show that she is better than the colts or not - so based on that she should not be such a clear cut favorite imo

Run for it looks like a horse that just does enough. in the DN he hit the front only to be passed by the Apache. I remember Felix said that he also hit the front in the Cape Guineas before Solo passed him again. Perhaps he needs a jock like Piere Strydom to get the timing right. Can't see him winning with the weight he will be carrying but definitely could run on into the places. IMO the July is won by a horse specially prepared for it, coming in at a decent weight. Can't see Igugu being the one, besides she has had a tough season. As Snaith said, His horses were aimed at the 3yo classics. I am looking forward to seeing the runs of Galileos Destiny and Castlethorpe. I think they would have the best chances of that group. Of the older brigade, Big City Life, Past Master and Bravura.

I could be completely wrong, but I don't rate Castlethorpe in quite the same league as the other 3year olds

I agree with you on performances to date, but just have sneaky suspicion that this one is flying under the radar. Will know more after the gold challenge. They really did not want to geld this horse, so must feel that he has a big one in him. He may not be wearing orange, but I have a feeling he may be another Dunford.

If IGUGU runs in the JULY, race over.
At 7/2 betting, CHRISTMAS HAS COME EARLY. (Just my opinion) >:D<

How can people be so bullish about igugu when she never take on a good colt as yet, this igugu reminds me of hoeberg that ran in the july that trademark won, she was conquering all fillies before her,I think she won about 6 in a row and carried a very low weight with lloyd up and ran unplaced, last year river jetez looked a sitter in the weights ans ran unplaced, a few years back sean tarry had a horse that won a maiden first time out win the woolavington and carry bottom weight in the july, also unplaced!
Moral of the story- a good colt will 80perc of the time beat a good filly
Over to the igugu fans
Past master to win, biggest danger is castlethorpe

Hi BC, would tend to agree a good colt will normally beat a good filly but we can have the odd exception

Empress Club comes to mind, Devon Air (mare) Tecla Bluff and Ipi Tombi, I dont see any stars this year apart from Igugu (could be wrong)

Zarkava/Zenyatta also come to mind

Maybe Miss D can take on a few colts and we will both be happy ;)

almost forgot Dancers Daughter.............

That's were the 80perc kicks in,the only good horse igugu faced was ebony flyer, ebony flyer ran a game 3rd in qp but never looked like winning, we will only know after the july just how good igugu is
